Jean-Christophe Kern, the teen prodigy of French film!

On the eve of the release of the first biopic about his life, we were able to catch Jean-Cristophe Kern, alias J.C., between a math class and an audition, and ask him a few brief questions about the film, directed by Jonathan Zaccaï.  Jean-Cristophe prefers to go by J.C. – like Jesus Christ.

A Golden Palm at 15, a Cesar Award at 16 – had that been your dream?

- No, my only dream was to just live my life.

“J.C. is a mixture of Jean-Luc Godard and Justin Bieber” is what we read in the press – are you afraid you may be perceived as just a fashionable phenomenon?

- I hope that, with age, I will start to resemble Jean-Luc Godard more and more.  Can’t wait ‘till retirement!!

-Is it true that at age 20, you plan to end your film carrier and open a bookstore?

- That is correct.  I want to open a bookstore by the riverbank, something a bit like Shakespeare and Co.  I plan to hire some Australian or American students who’ll do lap dances side by side with the great classics.  It should be an interesting mix.

-Why are you obsessed with Corn Pops?

- Because they represent the apex of perfection in breakfast cereals.
